Language
The official language of the Republic of Poland is Polish. It is the first language of
the vast majority of the inhabitants of Poland.
Polish is a Slavic language. It is written in the Roman alphabet, extended to express
sounds specific for the polish language (ąćęłńóśźż).
The first surviving documents containing Polish words are some Latin texts from the 12th
century. The earliest whole texts in Polish come from the 14th century.
